Location: Garos IV

This thickly-forested world was settled by human colonists some 4,000 years ago. The inhabitants became self-sufficient due to Garos IV's rich farmlands. A brisk trade developed between the Garosians and their neighbors, the Sundars, who were part of the colonization effort. The Sundars developed technology, and the two worlds complimented each other. However, the Sundars have recently begun to migrate to Garos IV, settling in the valleys and establishing factories and industrial centers. This emigration began about 200 years before the Galactic Civil War, and raised the ire of the agricultural Garosians. When a Garosian grain facility was destroyed, the resentment among the two neighbors bubbled over, and a civil war was started. It lasted 82 years until a truce was signed. Garos IV was one of the first ten planets to join the Refugee Resettlement Coalition, shortly before the Clone Wars. During the last years of the Old Republic, the Garosian-Sundar truce was regularly violated until the Empire took control of the Garos System. The Garosians became strong supporters of the Alliance, and held onto their beliefs until the New Republic took control. Once the rest of the galaxy came to realize that the University of Garos was a top-notch school, more beings began traveling to Garos IV to attend classes there. An economic boom followed, as the students created a need for virtually every service. The planet had two moons, and was located spin ward of the Nyarikan Nebula. The average day on Garos IV lasted 25 standard hours, and its year encompassed 382 local days. (SWJ1, SWJ12, DTR, HNN5)

Back-story:

Garos IV is in the middle of a grand civil war.  The Jedi council sends a young Jedi knight, Elari Elohyek T’nelat, to aid in peace talks between Garos IV and Sundar.  His Garosian Aid, chosen by the people of Garos IV because of her rustic charm and ability to represent the best of her people, was named Milani Nevar.  The two worked together for 2 years towards peace between the two cultures.  The relationship between Milani and Elari grew into more than professional.  Knowing that such thoughts were not allowed in the Jedi order, Elari Renounces his knight ship and retreats into hiding on Garos IV with his New wife Milani Elohyek.

They live happily on a small self-sufficient farm on the outskirts of a small village.  After a year, their first child is born, a son.  Kael Elohyek.  One year later their second son is born, Jael.  Both children are very strong in the force, but not wanting to be separated from his sons, and not believing in the Jedi Order’s rules and restrictions, Elari begins training his sons himself.  Kael quickly reveals that he is a quick learner and masters many of the tasks given to him with ease.  Jael, while not as quick as his older brother, handles his tasks meticulously, and performs exceedingly well.  Elari manages to build two training light sabers (low power, non lethal) for the boys to train with.  Both show great promise.  Kael masters the defensive posture, which in turn causes some frustration in Jael, forcing him to start mastering the more aggressive stances.  This bred a small resentment of his brother in Jael.  The boys were trained in all aspects of the force.  They learned to stay clear of the Dark side because of the way it can twist and torment a Jedi.

At 20 years old Kael had shown incredible promise in his training and Elari believed him ready for the final stages of his training.  Hidden in the forests on the other side of the Great Plains was a small crystal mine.  This mine had been known to contain a few force sensitive crystals used in the creation of light sabers.  The trek would take 2 weeks total and Kael could take nothing with him but his connection to the force.  Jael had come very far in his training as well but his father was reluctant at sending him out so soon.  Jael was persistent though and convinced Elari to let him go.  Jael would start 3 days after Kael.

The day had come and Kael was prepared.  He set out for the mines with his mind on the force guiding him in the right direction.  Three days later he was near the edge of the Palani forest where he lived and on the edge of the Great Plains.  Jael, meanwhile, was anxious to leave.  Elari urged him again to stay behind and focus more on the living force, but Jael refused.  He set out in the direction of Kael, determined to catch up or even pass his brother.  On Kael’s 5th day, while meditating, Kael sensed danger nearby.  He knew that his brother was in trouble.  Near the edge of the forest, Jael had run into a bit of a snag.  In His haste to catch up to his brother, he did not sense how close he was to one of the deep running irrigation trenches.  The recent rains caused the sides to become slick with mud, but without his thoughts in the force, Jael didn’t see this danger until it was too late.  He slid down to the bottom of the ditch gouging his leg on the way down.  Fighting back the pain Jael being to focus on the force and reaching out to his brother in hopes of rescue.

Kael Felt his brother call, but was already on his way to him.  Kael reached out through the force to lift his brother out of the ravine, and then concentrated his thoughts to mending the wound in Jael’s leg.  While not completely healed, the mending will hold until Jael gets back to the homestead.  Jael felt defeated and embarrassed at needing his brother to come to his rescue.  He solemnly worked his way back home.  Kael continued on his way to the mines.  Jael reached the homestead early the next morning and was angry with himself for failing.  Elari tries to talk with his son, telling him not to be angry, and to learn for the experience.  Jael refuses his fathers help with his wound and heads to his room.

Kael finally reaches the mine and begins searching for his much desired crystal.  He focuses his mind and centers himself in the force, reaching out and feeling the walls with his thoughts.  He runs across a particular area and feels a rush of power emanating from it.  He opens his eyes to see what’s there and sees a perfectly refined crystal sticking just barely out of the wall.  He reaches out to grab the crystal and as soon as his fingers brush over it he starts to see visions.  Visions of his Homestead, His Father and Mother working in the garden, his brother in his room nursing his leg, and a Stranger in Black approaching.  A Dark and Mysterious figure Surprises Elari, force pushing Milani out of the way.  Elari reaches out for his Light saber but this figure Ignites his own and slashes Elari’s hand off before he can grasp it.  The Stranger Turns and starts to approach Milani.  Elari, lying in pain on the floor finally manages to call his light saber to his good hand, Stands and charges at the back of the Dark one.  The Stranger, Sensing Elari’s approach stabs backwards into Elari’s charge.  Kael Gasps at this Vision as he watches his father crumble onto the ground.  The Murder never takes his eyes off Milani.  Jael, hearing a commotion runs out to the Garden and is frozen with Fear at the sight of the Dark stranger.  The stranger quickly takes moves towards Jael preparing to strike but Stops cold, just inches from Jael’s neck.  He senses something in Jael and lowers his saber.  Instead he reaches up and lays a hand on Jael’s forehead.  Jael’s eyes roll back and he collapses.  Milani has crawled over to Elari's body and she is holding it close now, crying.  She grabs Elari's light saber, ignites it and charges at Darth Ammag.  Not being skilled in the art of the saber, her attempts are easily blocked bt the Sith apprentice.  Growing weary of the attempts the Stranger jumps back and reaches out with Grip, choking Milani until her body falls limp.  Lifting Jael’s body onto his shoulder, the stranger disappears into the forest.

The vision fades and Kael find himself crouched on the floor of the cave clutching the crystal, ripped from the wall during the vision, in his hand, Tears streaming down his face.  Was this a vision of the future, or the present?  Knowing there was only one way to find out, he sprints his way home.  Still mindful of the dangers of the area, Kael remains aware of the force on his fast journey home.

Arriving home he found that the nightmare was true.  His father lay, slain, on one side of the garden, his arm detached.  Kael’s mother lay on the other, her face contorted from gasping for life.  Kael collapses in horror and screams.  He pulls his mothers body close to him and sobs into her lifeless chest.  He looks over to his father and his eyes fall on the light saber his mother dropped durring just before her death.  Kael then realized what he needed to do.

Soon after, standing on the new graves of his parents holding his fathers light saber he swears to find their murderer and rescue his brother.  A distant voice sounds out and Kael recognizes his Fathers words.  “Do not seek revenge; be mindful of the dark side.  Rescue your brother for the good of the force, not to quell the anger in your heart.  Remember your lessons and the love of your parents son, and may the force be with you.”  Kael nods and understands, he looks at his father’s saber and ignites it, but for some reason it feels awkward.  Kael knows that he must build his own for it to feel right and before he sets out on his mission.  He pulls from his pouch the crystal that showed him the face of his parents murderer and heads inside the homestead to gather his things.

Knowing also that the stranger might return before he is ready, Kael takes everything he would need to survive away from the homestead.  He heads towards a small area in the forest that his father used for training and sets up a small encampment.  Time being critical, he starts in on the construction of his light saber.

Using an old text that his father had shown him, and his fathers light saber as an example, Kael focused his mind on the force to guide his hands in the building process.  Unfortunately, his first few attempts did not wield much success.  Kael did not give up though, his brothers life depended on it.  Finally, his work was complete.  His light saber was finished.  His next task was to find his brother’s kidnapper.

Meditating, Kael reached out into the force, feeling along the edge of the dark side for some hint of where this Dark stranger might be lurking.   Weeks have gone by since his initial vision of this malicious visitor, but the image of his face was burned into Kael’s mind.  Finally his searching pays off.  The stranger did indeed return to Garos IV to search for the remaining brother.  But Kael felt he was ready for him now.  Again, he heard his father’s voice.  “Do not rush into death, be one with the force and draw him to you.  Be prepared and wary my son.”  A brief feeling of sorrow rushed over Kael as he realized how much he missed his father, but he knew what Elari’s words meant.  He began clearing away the encampment and started to focus on the force, and guiding the Dark one towards him.

Darth Ammag didn’t need guiding, he knew exactly where to look for his prey.  He was already moving towards the training area that Jael confessed about.  From a distance the area looked clear, but after moving in closer, the image of Kael sitting on a log with his eyes close became clearer.  Moving silently towards his foe, Kael’s eyes Popped open, but he did not jump up.

Kael stood slowly keeping his eyes on the Dark clad figure.  For a short while they just stood staring at each other.  Anger, rage, and hatred flashed across Kael’s mind for a brief second and Darth Ammag smiled.  Kael realized his thoughts and focused on the now.  Holding his breath in hope, Kael ignited his saber, and let a sigh of relief out.  Darth Ammag followed suit and ignited his own saber.  Kael prepares himself in a defensive stance, ready for any sort of attack, never loosing eye contact.  The sith makes the first move, a casual strike, to test his foe. Kael blocks with ease.  Ammag swings wide to sweep at Kael’s feet but again is blocked by the boy’s defensive posture.  Frustrated, The Dark one swings quickly up towards Kael’s head but is again blocked.  Kael can see that his moves are starting to frustrate the Sith and continues to fight defensively.  Darth Ammag, growing tired of playing games, begins to fight more furiously, striking harder and faster.  Kael continues his defensive stance trying to find an opening in the Sith attack.  His opening happened, as he noticed that Ammag was starting to tire and leave himself open.  Kael switched stances and moved to offensive.  This caught Darth Ammag off guard and Kael started to advance on him striking and counter striking every move made.  Just as a nearly fatal blow came from above, Kael blocks the evil strangers blow and locks sabers just above Kaels head.  Darth Ammag grined down at Kael “Your brother surrendered himself much easier than this, He will make an Excellent new apprentice for my master”

Kael replied smirkly “He’s going to need a new one after loosing you” and with that, Kael focuses into the force and pushes Darth Ammag so hard that he flies back slamming against a tree, the force of the blow knocking the saber out of Ammag’s hand.  Kael pulls the red saber to his free hand and ignites it holding both sabers barely against his enemy.  “Where is my Brother?”

“Already on his way to the Dark Side” laughs Ammag

“Kael screams out “Liar!” and slashes off one of Ammag’s arms.  “Now where is he Sith!”

Wincing for only a second before returning Kael’s gaze, Ammag smiles and force pushes Kael away from him.  Kael flies back only a step or two still holding both sabers.  Darth Ammag charges at Kael but stops just short with an odd look on his face.  Kael saw the charge and thrust both sabers through Ammag’s Chest.  The Sith lord falls to the ground.

His parents’ murder avenged Kael now ponders how to learn about his brother’s whereabouts.  He takes the Sith's saber and his fathers back to his parents gravesite and places both sabers between the graves.

In a darkened warehouse, a Familiar Hooded figure sits in meditation.  Sensing the demise of his apprentice, he stands and walks to another room where a crumpled figure lay on the floor.  “Stand child” he says.  Jael stands and faces the cloaked man.  The Sith master looks deeply into Jael and tells him “It’s time you fully understand the power of the dark side”

Script

Scene 1: Kael's Journey

Outside the front door Kael, Jael, Elari, and Milani gather as Kael prepares for his Trial.  Jael looks very upset.

ELARI: Remember, the Force will guide you. It should take you no longer than 2 weeks

KAEL: I know father.  And thank you, for believing me ready for this.

MILANI: <Hugging Kael> I am so proud of you Kael.  I know you will do well.

JAEL: I still don't see why I can't go too.

ELARI: Jael, we have gone over this already.  You have done well in your training, but....

JAEL: But what?  I have been training just as long as Kael.  I am just as good, if not better than him in light saber skills.

KAEL: <coughs>

ELARI: Jael, I sense that.... something tells me that it is not time for you yet.

MILANI: Jael, listen to your father.  Kael, how do you feel about this trip?

KAEL: I'm okay, a little nervous, but I'll be alright.  It's a straight shot through the forest, and once I am in the plains it should be pretty easy to find the cave.  I think finding the right crystal is going to be the hard part.

ELARI: Just remember your lessons and you will do fine.

Kael picks up his pack, and with a final hug and kiss for his parents, heads out into the forest

<End Scene>

Flashback 1: Feel the Force

Kael and Jael, 10 and 9, sitting in meditation while Elari instructs them.

ELARI: Concentrate and reach out to the Force.  Feel the Force flowing through you.

Kael's face lightens up as he feels the force, but Jael's face crinkles in frustration.

JAEL: I can't do it father, I feel the force out there, but it's only around me, not through me.  It's like I am just out of reach.

ELARI: You are not out of reach. You need to reach out farther than you are reaching now.  You are setting limits for yourself, while the Force is unlimited. If you open yourself to it, it will come to you.

KAEL: <slowly opening eyes and and standing> I felt it.  I just released myself, and I felt it.

ELARI: Good, now learn to meditate in that state.  Come on you two, back at it.

The boys sit back down and start meditation again

<End Scene>

Scene 2: Jael's Conflict

Jael sits against one of the trees near the homestead reading the ancient text showing the procedure and technique of building a light saber.  Elari approaches him.

JAEL: <still sitting> Please give me the chance to show you that I am ready

ELARI: <sighing> I believe that you are ready,  there is just something I sense in the force, something un-natural.  It does not feel like the right time for you.

JAEL: You're just nervous for us, that all. <closes book and stands to face Elari> Please, I'll wait until Kael is a good distance ahead and I won't interfere with his Trial, I will follow my own path.

ELARI: Can you honestly look into the force and tell me that you believe yourself to be ready for this?

JAEL: <obviously anxious, and following his mind not the force> Yes, Yes father.  I am so ready.

ELARI: Very well then.  You will leave in a day, but mind you, <sternly> you will spend this day in meditation to make sure you understand the importance of this trip.

JAEL: <excited> I will. Oh thank you father, I will!

Jael hugs his father in excitement and, Elari hesitant at first, hugs him back

<End Scene>

Scene 3: Jael's Journey

Elari, Milani, and Jael gather on the Homestead doorstep as Jael prepares to leave.

ELARI: Son, I still sense something wrong.  I know I said you could go, but I ask you to please reconsider.  Something in the force just does not feel right.

MILANI: Maybe he is right Jael.  Stay until Kael returns.  If nothing happens, then you can go.

JAEL: Now you don't believe I can do it mother?  I will be just fine.  <smugly>I bet I even finish before Kael gets back.  Don't worry about me.

Jael picks up his pack and heads out to the forest without looking back.  Milani puts her arms around Elari's shoulders to offer comfort

MILANI: What's wrong Elari?

ELARI: <watching Jael walk off into the forest> I have a bad feeling about this.  Jael has always been confrontational, but I thought it was his drive towards learning.  I fear that it is something more than that but I cannot nail it down.

MILANI: He's a grown man now, but still our little boy.  Maybe you just don't want to let go.

ELARI: Maybe you are right. <sigh> Our little boy...

Flashback 2: Light saber Training

Kael and Jael 10 and 9, Work on their light saber skills as Elari Instructs them on stances.  Jael feverishly advancing on Kael, Kael blocking everything Jael throws.

ELARI: Excellent!  Good job Jael, you are doing wonderfully with the offensive stances.

JAEL: But I am not getting through.  He's blocking everything.

KAEL: It's weird. I can't help but block them,  I know where the strike is coming.

ELARI: That is the Force.  The Force gives you insight on where to block, and the force will give you insight on where to strike.

JAEL: So I should let the Force guide the saber?

ELARI: No, the force will not guide your actions, but it will help you see what you need to accomplish.

KAEL: Come on Jael, let's try it again.

The boys start their fight again, this time Jael finds an opening and zaps Kael's side.

KAEL: OW!

ELARI: Careful Jael. These may be training sabers, but they can still hurt.

JAEL: <Grinning> Sorry Kael.  But I did get through that time!

ELARI: I think that's enough for today. I think I smell your mothers Jerrackie roast.  Gather your things.

KAEL: Can't we do just one more round?

ELARI: <thinking about it> Well, I suppose.  But be quick about it.

The boys start dueling again and we pan in close on the sabers as the lock together.  panning back out we see both boys fully grown now, Kael at 20 and Jael at 19.  Elari can bee seen sitting on a log in the distance meditating.  Kael still deflects every swing Jael throws.

KAEL: Come on Jael,  will you ever give up?

JAEL: I got through your defense once, I will do it again.

KAEL: That was 10 years ago! Talk about holding a grudge.

Kael switches stances and starts going offense.  Jael does his best to block Kael's attacks but eventually gets overpowered and Kael gets in a good shot and zaps Jael on the side.

JAEL: Spats! <curse word>

KAEL: I told you these things hurt!

JAEL: When do we get our own real light sabers?

ELARI: <still in meditative posture> When you finish your training and build it.  Every Jedi must build his own saber.

KAEL: Why?  Why don't they just have a light saber store?

JAEL: <eyeing his fathers saber> Or use someone else's?

ELARI: <standing up and facing the boys> You could use someone else's.... but, those sabers you are using perform well enough for training but do you notice that it feels like you are wearing someone else's boot?

KAEL: Yes, I was beginning to wonder if it was me.

JAEL: So building our own will make this feel more comfortable.

ELARI: I pray you never feel comfortable wielding a weapon.  But yes, it will feel more natural.

KAEL: <sarcastically to Jael> It's not going to help you against me!

Kael fires up his training saber and thrusts at Jael, who blocks the attack the the two continue to spar

<End Scene>

Scene 4: Trek Through the Forest

Kael slowly strolls through the forest being mindful of what's around him,  he stops for a moment looking off into the distance and changes course, walking around the area he was looking towards.  He walks on for a distance, and suddenly we hear a growl/roar from the direction Kael would have been walking.

Jael is running, almost at full speed through the forest.  trying to catch up to Kael.  Dodging low branches and hopping over logs.  At one point Jael actually stumbles over a tree root, and grumbles to himself before pressing on.

Kael finally reaches the edge of the forest and looks out at the Great Plains.  Near dusk, he decides to rest for the night and finds a small area just inside the forest.  He pulls out a small nutritional bar to eat and sits back enjoying the vast view in front of him.  After a while, he closes his eyes to rest.

Meanwhile, Jael continues to move as fast as possible towards Kael's position.  What he doesn't notice is the fairly deep ravine on his left, which crosses his path just ahead.  Not sensing the danger of his situation, Jael presses on.  Only at the last minute does he become aware of the trench, but it's too late. The ground beneath him slides and takes him with it down into the ravine.  Grasping and clawing, Jael tries to stop his decent to no avail.  Eventually, he slides to a stop near the bottom of the ditch and takes a moment to catch his breath.  Cursing his inability to sense the danger before it happened, Jael tries to stand up and crumples back to the ground in pain.  He looks down to see a small amount of blood on his leg.  In the fall he has broken his leg.  Now unable to escape his prediciment he sits and tries to clear his mind, to reach out to Kael. He knows he needs his brothers help, and he is not happy about it.

A shout of surprise, a scream of pain, a cry of terror and defeat, Kael snaps open his eyes and turns to the forest.  Standing quickly he darts off back the direction he came scanning the area around him as he passes.  Suddenly he feels his brother reaching out through the force, guiding him towards the ravine.  Arriving to the edge of the ravine Kael searches the area looking for Jael.

KAEL: <yelling> Jael!!  Jael can you hear me!

JAEL: Down Here!!

KAEL: Are you ok?

JAEL: <Sarcastically> Yeah, I'm fine, I thought the bottom of a muddy ditch would be a good place to sleep for the night. What do you think?

KAEL: <sarcastically in return> Where do you think I was resting before you called?  Seriously, can you move?

JAEL: No, I think my Leg is broken.  I can barely stand.

KAEL: Hold on a second, I am going to lift you out of there.

Kael concentrates and force lifts Jael slowly out of the ravine and onto the bank area.  Setting him down gently Kael runs to his brother and sees to the broken leg.

KAEL: What are you doing out here? Is dad with you?

JAEL: No,  I was out alone on my own trial. Dad felt I was ready enough to go.

KAEL: <looking through the fabrication> You mean you talked him into it.

JAEL: <knowing that he can't go on with his trial and feeling defeated> Yeah, but I was ready.  If I hadn't fallen I would have done just fine.

KAEL: Didn't you know the ravine was here? Didn't you feel the danger of it through the force?  This is why father felt uneasy about your trial.  You're not focusing yet, you're way too distracted.

Kael takes a deep breath and focuses his thoughts and puts his hands on Jael's leg trying to heal the broken bone.  Jael winces a bit at the feeling.  Afterwards Kael uses a small branch and some vines to splint the leg in place.

JAEL: I am not!  It was just one mistake. If it didn't happen, I probably would have passed you by now.

KAEL: <sighs> Jael, this isn't a race.  It's a test to see how well you have learned to be one with the force.  You have to let this jealousy go.  If you don't, it will only get worse.  Please Jael, I don't want to compete with you.  I want us to go on as Jedi together.  But you can't finish the trial like this.  This splint should be enough to get you home if you are careful, and then mom can take a look and fix up the rest.

JAEL: You're not coming with me?

KAEL: No,  I said you could not finish the trial, I didn't say I wasn't going to finish.  Besides,  I want to be at home to congratulate you when you return from your trial.  Be there for me when I come home.

JAEL: But....

KAEL: Jael, please. You can't go on.  Go home and rest up.  You will need your strength and your wits when it comes time for your trial.  <concentrating for a moment> And I see that day coming very very soon, really.  Now go.

JAEL: Ok,  I'm sorry Kael.  <starts to walk off in the direction of the homestead, he turns back for a moment> Kael?

KAEL: Yes?

JAEL: May the force be with you.

KAEL: May the force be with you brother.

The two walk off in different directions, Kael back towards the plains, and Jael back home

<End Scene>

Scene 5: Defeated

Jael moves through the forest as best he can with one leg in a splint and his hopes crushed.  He eventually arrives back at the homestead.  Milani is out working in the garden and Elari on the front porch tinkering with a broken droid.  Both see Jael limping up and rush to his aid.

MILANI: Jael!!  Jael what happened?  Let me look at that.

ELARI: Son are you ok? How......

Jael brushes off the help and goes inside without saying a word.

MILANI: <turning to Elari> Do you think Kael.....?

ELARI: <closing his eyes for a moment> No Kael is ok, a little tired but he is ok.  Strange, it seems like I should have been able to see this, but now that I think on it, something is clouding my visions of Jael

Both of them go inside to tend to Jael's wounds, mental and physical

Scene 6: The Cave

Thoughts of his brother weigh heavy on Kael's mind as we walks across the plains.  The area with the cave lie just ahead and he can feel the force pulling him in that direction.  The entrance to the cave is not very big, but once inside he can see the vastness of the cave itself.  The air is muggy and damp, and the walls are wet with moisture.  Oddly enough there are no obvious crystals showing in the walls.  Finding the one he needed might prove harder than he thought.

Kael began searching for his much desired crystal.  After searching extensivly, he remembers to let the Force guide him. Visions of his homestead.

Elari and Milani are working in the garden, and Jael is in his room nursing his leg. Off in the distance Kael can just barely make out a Stranger in Black approaching.  The dark and mysterious figure surprises Elari, force pushing Milani out of the way.

AMMAG: <hissing> Greetings, Jedi.

ELARI: Who are you, what do you want?

AMMAG: I want nothing, but to please my Master.

ELARI: <muttering to himself> The sith?  I thought they were extinct.

MILANI: Elari, What's going on?

ELARI: Stay back Milani, I'll handle this.

ELARI: <screaming in pain>  Mila.....

AMMAG: Pathetic attempt, Jedi.

MILANI: <crying> Please, No...

Kael gasps at this Vision as he watches his father crumble onto the ground.  The murderer never takes his eyes off Milani.  Jael, hearing a commotion limps out to the Garden and is frozen with fear at the sight of the dark stranger.

Not being skilled in the art of the saber, her attempts are easily blocked by the Sith apprentice.

<End Scene>

Scene 7: Solemn Return

Arriving home he finds that the nightmare is true.  His father lies, slain, on one side of the garden, his arm detached.  Kael’s mother lies on the other, her face contorted from gasping for life.  Kael collapses in horror and screams.  He pulls his mothers body close to him and sobs into her lifeless chest.  He looks over to his father and his eyes fall on the light saber his mother dropped during just before her death.  Kael then realizes what he needed to do.

Scene 8: Decisions

Soon after, standing on the new graves of his parents holding his fathers light saber he swears to find their murderer and rescue his brother.  A distant voice sounds out and Kael recognizes his Fathers words.

ELARI: <ghostly voice> Do not seek revenge, be mindful of the dark side.  Rescue your brother for the good of the force, not to quell the anger in your heart.  Remember your lessons and the love of your parents son.  The Force will be with you.”

KAEL: Father?! Wait Father, Come back!

A tear streaked down Kael's face as he looked at his father’s saber and ignited it, but for some reason it felt awkward.  Kael knew that he must build his own for it to feel right and before he sets out on his mission.  He pulls from his pouch the crystal that showed him the face of his parents murderer and heads inside the homestead to gather his things.

Scene 9: Trial and Error

Knowing also that the stranger might return before he is ready, Kael takes everything he needs to survive away from the homestead.  He heads towards a small area in the forest that his father used for training and sets up a small encampment.  Time being critical, he starts in on the construction of his light saber.

Using an old text that his father showed him, and his father's light saber as an example, Kael focuses his mind on the force to guide his hands in the building process.  Unfortunately, his first few attempts do not wield much success.  Kael does not give up though, his brothers life depends on it.  Finally, his work is complete.  His light saber was finished.  His next task will be to find his brother’s kidnapper.

Scene 10: Preparations

Meditating, Kael reaches out into the force, feeling along the edge of the dark side for some hint of where this Dark stranger might be lurking.   The image of this malicious visitor's face burned into Kael’s mind.  Finally his searching pays off.  The stranger has indeed returned to Garos IV to search for the remaining brother.  Kael feels he is ready for him now.  Again, he hears his father’s voice.

ELARI: <ghostly voice> Do not rush into death.  Be one with the force and draw him to you.  Be prepared and wary my son.

A brief feeling of sorrow rushes over Kael as he realizes how much he missed his father, but he knows what Elari’s words mean.  He begins clearing away the encampment and starts to focus on the force, guiding the Dark one towards him.

Scene 11: Revenge

Darth Ammag didn’t need guiding, he knew exactly where to look for his prey.  He was already moving towards the training area that Jael confessed about.  From a distance the area looked clear, but after moving in closer, the image of Kael sitting on a log with his eyes closed became clearer.

Just as a nearly fatal blow came from above, Kael blocks the evil strangers blow and locks sabers just above Kael's head.

AMMAG: <grinning> Your brother surrendered himself much easier than this, He will make an Excellent new apprentice for my master

KAEL: <smirking> He will have to find someone else. My brother will never join your master, and you will not be returning to him

Kael focuses into the Force and pushes Darth Ammag so hard that he flies back slamming against a tree, the force of the blow knocking the saber out of Ammag’s hand.  Kael pulls the red saber to his free hand and ignites it holding both sabers barely against his enemy.

KAEL: Where is my brother?

AMMAG: Already on his way to the Dark Side

KAEL: Liar!

Kael slashes off one of Ammag’s arms.

KAEL: Now where is he Sith?!

KAEL: I will find Jael father, and I will make you proud of me mother. I love you both.

Kael walks off with his pack on his shoulder

Scene 12: Epilogue

In a darkened warehouse, a Familiar Hooded figure sits in meditation.  Sensing the demise of his apprentice, he stands and walks to another room where a crumpled figure lay on the floor.

SIDIOUS: Stand child

Jael stands and faces the cloaked man.  The Sith master looks deeply into Jael

SIDIOUS: It’s time you fully understand the power of the dark side

    Jael kneels before Darth Sidious
